Serveral pieces of News for everybody.

1.  Remember the Fayre isn't that far off, its only about a month away so if you want tickets get them early.  You can purchase online or at the Gate.

2.  We invited several politicians to attend the opening of the event this year.  We invited the Premier of Victoria, The President of the Legislative Council, TH Robert Smith, and the Member for Narre Warren South, Judith Graley MP.

The Premier was unable to attend due to other commitments but sent a Message of Congratulations;

To Date we haven't heard anything from TH Robert Smith; and

Judith Graley MP has announced that she will be attending the Opening of the Event on Saturday 7th November 2009.

3.  The ALHF will be holding its AGM at the Event this year, on the Saturday Night at 5:30pm after the days events have finished.

Fayre Dates have Changed

Fayre Logo  This is an Urgent News Article to let everybody know that the Fayre's dates have changed.

The Original Dates where 14th and 15th November 2009.  These dates have now changed to

7th and 8th November 2009 which is the Weekend BEFORE the original Dates.

We hope that this date change doesn't cause you any problems and still look forward to see you at the event on the new Weekend.

Please ignore any dates on the website that indicate the 14th and 15th November and please feel free to let us know where you found the dates still listing the even as the 14th and 15th November so that we can change them.  The site is fairly extensive and advertising of the event fairly wide spread so we can't get to every area listing the incorrect dates.

Regards

Sean Bennetts
Event Organiser.

English Civil War
A Clash with the past in the present at the Melbourne Medieval Fayre and Tourney MMFAT ® in 2009

On the 7th and 8th November 2009, with the clash of Swords, the spatter of musket fire and the boom of cannon you will be transported back into the past at the 7th annual Melbourne Medieval Fayre and Tourney MMFAT® which will once again bring history to life for all ages at the Old Cheese Factory in Berwick, Victoria.

This unique Victorian event, allows the public to be transported back into the past over different historical time periods from the Ancient Greeks and Romans, through the medieval period and into the Napoleonic wars of Europe and the American Civil war.

The Fayre features living history group members dressed in Historical costumes, with their historical tents, furniture and weapons. Even the Merchants and Traders that attend the event dress up in historical clothing. The performers that attend the event also showcase some interesting types of entertainment, coupled with the members of some of the Craft Guilds in Victoria demonstrating their old crafts, it makes for an interesting weekend.

The Melbourne Medieval Fayre and Tourney™ was started by the Ordo Equester Aurei Cervi (Inc.), an Order of Knights that is a benevolent and philanthropic group assisting Charities and people in need when it can, as a way of showcasing the Living history groups within Victoria to the public, while providing a reasonably priced event for the family to have time together, no matter their financial circumstances.

Each year, money raised by the Fayre goes towards supporting and sponsoring children at the Variety Club Childrens Christmas Party.

So if your looking for an inexpensive family day out with a difference, that assists Charities, allow yourself to be transported back into history and get up close and personal with medieval sword fighting, Knights on Horses, Wellington and Napoleons soldiers firing muskets, and the Yankies and Rebs of the American Civil war trying to blow each other up with their cannons in a fun and friendly way, then this could be the weekend event for you.

Welcome to the New Melbourne Medieval Fayre and Tourney MMFAT Website. We hope it will make it nicer for you to be here and will be easier to navigate around.

MMFAT LogoWe hope this new site for the Melbourne Medieval Fayre and Tourney looks better and is more inviting than the old one. After 6 years of the event running we thought it was time for us to make the site a little more friendly and appealing. We hope we have achieved that.

We are also planning, sometime in the future to offer some stuff to download, but to get those you would need to register as a site member. We may even run competitions as the 2009 MMFAT gets closer, so that those registered as site members can have an opportunity to gain free tickets for themselves.

All this is planned and we will keep you posted in the new news section and on the eNewsletter when these types of things will happen. The first thing we want to do is make sure the site is up and running correctly.

News Logo

The Melbourne Medieval Fayre and Tourney MMFAT Organisers consist purely of volunteers.

Neither the Organisers or the Ordo Equester Aurei Cervi (Inc.) [Order of the Golden Hart (Inc.)] that the Organisers are members of gain any financial profit from the organising, running or staging of this event in any way. As it currently stands the Order itself doesn't gain any financial benefit from the running of the event and hasn't gained any new members from the event either in the 6 years of the event.
